Barbados gives a special visa for remote workers in the island

Located in the Caribbean, Barbados is a paradisiac island of 439m2 and a population of 285.000 (2019). The capital, Bridgetown, contains 1/3 of the country’s population. But, why it is now famous this small island?

Last week, prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, announced that the government is developing a 12- month Barbados Welcome Stamp, a special visa, for remote workers who want to work in the beautiful and stunning beaches on the island.

As the Prime Minister explained “this visa, which is in the final steps of development, allows people from the United States, Europe, and Latin America to come and do their jobs digitally and, at the same time help the island’s economy by bringing in additional tourism dollars for local business”.

The island reopened for tourism last Sunday and every visitor is encouraged to take a Covid-19 test and bring the results with them to present upon arrival.
